The biggest difference between Adult & Teen Challenge and a traditional recovery center is our focus on Christ. Our programs depend on the power of the Holy Spirit and God’s word to provide our students with a guiding light. Treatment is important, but transformation is key Through our Bible-based curriculum, students learn how to apply God’s Word to their lives. They also learn to recognize the Holy Spirit’s work in their lives, invite God to help them overcome their life-controlling problems, and become more like Christ. Most of our programs last an average of 12-18 months. This timeframe provides ample opportunity for adults and teens to confront their destructive choices, their self-sabotaging behavior, and their unhealthy views. It then gives them a safe place to establish a new “normal”— assured of the love of God and under the guidance of Biblical principles. Are you searching for answers regarding your loved one’s use of drugs or alcohol? Are you unsure about whether their use of substances can be classified as addiction? Do you wonder if you did something wrong to cause your loved one’s addiction? Are you frustrated that your loved one doesn’t seem to care or want to stop their behaviors, despite how they impact the family? Are you looking for a way you can help? In this course, licensed clinical and consulting psychologist, author, and international speaker Dr. Jared Pingleton addresses the answers to these questions in a brief 3-hour program. Each of the 4-steps in this program are designed to be sensitive to families and friends with a loved one facing addiction. It answers the most common questions families face and shows them how they can best help.

This ministry is a difficult program but it needs to be because of the life controlling issues it’s participants have. There is hope for the addict. There is only one hope. Christ’s forgiveness and inner healing. Thank you for ask you do.

I went through this program, and it is not somewhere you would want to send your daughter. You will have these “leaders” who prey on you when you come in and at that time are extremely vulnerable (coming from abuse or addiction). They tell you, you aren’t right with God if you do not talk in tongues. Fundraise in extreme weather conditions. When you are fundraising and don’t get the “goal” (the amount of money they want you to make) from the store you are fundraising at, then the leaders call and tell you to pray and then if your still not making the money then they tell you your heads not in the right place with God. I am personally still dealing with the emotional abuse that came from this program. They made me believe that my relationship with God isn’t that great because I didn’t follow their ways of worship. God is love and the way they are running it is not what He preaches.

I went through this program and stayed on as staff for a couple of months. It is a very difficult program and you do work a lot of hours, but when you’re early in your program you don’t realize why that’s so important. Some of the women who come into the program have literally never even swept a floor in their life! It is important to instill a good work ethic and show these women how to maintain a household and work! Also, you get a 13 month program and you pay literally nothing! The $1000 induction fee you get back when you graduate the program. (That’s how it was when I was there) you eat three meals a day, have a phone eventually, live in a gorgeous home, not have to pay a penny to maintain the vehicles, literally 13 months of just working and changing your life, focus on yourself to become the best person you can be! Who else can do that? I have been sober over 4 years now and it wouldn’t be without sucking it up and swallowing my pride and doing this program and having God guide me!

I reached a true sense of enlightenment here I have never felt more happy, safe and secure than when I spent time with the counselors at teen challenge USA. Even my mental health feels better, like I have a purpose, thank you. I only wish everyone else could feel so enlightened.

Nothing is what they say it is. Be prepared to feel like you are in a cult and that others around you are brainwashed. Working there is tiring and demeaning - definitely not worth what little you make. Students are asked to stop all mental health medication before entering the program, simply because teen challenge believes prayer and bible study eliminate all mental health symptoms and that students won’t need their medicine in the program. (But meds relating to physical health are apparently okay if you have a serious enough condition.) You will work way longer than scheduled hours and all your job is about is making money for Teen challenge or telemarketing for them to make money. Every staff has been through the program so the poor structure and professionalism seems to be just the way of life and easily accepted by anyone who enters... Overall, they make it sound like an amazing ministry but there are so many fallacies and things that make their mission fall short. Don’t work here or send your loved ones here unless you want them overworked, deprived of reasonable treatment, or in a cult disguised as a ministry.
