The Agora House is for men who truly desire sobriety. A place to learn how to live sober and grow in their recovery. In my 18 months there, I worked with a sponsor in a 12 step fellowship, utilized the ability to work with a therapist for my deep routed issues and past traumas, worked a job to pay my own way through treatment (which was fairly priced), found healing in nature, attended group meetings and learned how to get and stay mentally and physically healthy, created new life skills, made new healthy friends, found new healthy hobbies, and made amends to family. This place helped me to develop the tools I still use today in my almost 6 years of sobriety! I will remember my time at Agora for the rest of my life! Great place to get sober!

This program has changed my life in ways I've never dreamed. The program teaches individuals how to live life without the need for mind-altering substances, how to live as a productive member of society, and how to overcome the obstacles that life throws at you without the use of drugs or alcohol. It's fellowship creates bonds that will last a lifetime. I've seen many people turn their lives around and succeed as a result of this program. Just like anything else in life, you get out what you put in. For the individuals wanting to change and willing to put in the work, this program will change your life. It works if you work it!

As a family member of a former resident, my experience with Agora House was very positive. The program offered treatment by having structure, accountability, and social activities in place. The treatment director was knowledgeable, and caring; firm but fair with residents. Communication with the family was encouraged.

I came in to The Agora House in January of 2018. I had no money to my name, no place to live, I was living off medicaid, and had a very strained relationship with my family. I FINALLY decided that it was time to change. But... I needed and lacked Structure and Guidance in my life. I quit fighting everything and everyone and just surrendered. I started listening. Listening to the people who cared about me, and those that were going through recovery to understand that there IS HOPE. It didn't happen overnight. But that's the beauty of Recovery.. IT TAKES TIME!! The Agora House and it's director Scott Hinchman gave me the opportunity and time to focus on me. It helped me repair my relationship with my family (especially my children), helped me get a job and start paying for my own insurance, helped keep me surrounded by other guys going through recovery that to this day I WILL have a lasting friendship with. I learned how to handle things (Life) as an adult without having to fall back on mind altering substances which was my crutch for over 15 years. All in all.. I found a newer, better version of ME! You learn throughout Recovery about Gratitude.. We ALL have many things to be Grateful for and for myself I took those people, and things for granted for many, many years. I now realize that it's the people I meet, the people I love, the choices I make, and the Faith that I have that will truly define who I am. This program helped show me that. And for that I am forever Grateful. If you are ready to find a new way to live, are WILLING to learn and listen to others who DO have your best interest, be a productive member of society, and want to find the newer version of you.. All while enjoying what recovery has to offer... If The Agora House can help me.. Then it can DEFINITELY help you! Love Never Fails!

This place saved my life... I see some negative reviews with a few family members speaking for the people that were in the program, these people are just as sick as the men whom they are speaking for. This program taught me to be accountable for my own actions, and I can honestly say it did just that. Without the help of agora house, I would not be alive today and would not have been able to stay clean and sober for the 4 years that I have. I have nothing but respect for the man in charge. This program isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you want to get and stay sober and are willing to put the work in, this is the place for you. It’s not easy, but no one ever said it would be. Thank you Scott and agora for teaching me not only how to get and stay sober, but how to live a full, happy, and fulfilling life and helping provide me with the tools I need to succeed.
