Do not go to Acer if you are seeking recovery for yourself voluntarily. Unless you are mandated to go to treatment by the courts, they seem to have little time for you. They dropped me within a week. I sought Acer out because I wanted to quit drinking alcohol. They billed my insurance as much as possible and kicked me out for being honest about my drinking. Amazing to me that a person who seeks recovery for themself and speaks honestly can get booted from the program for being truthful while there are some folks can kick and scream and actively ignore policies and still attend. On a positive note, some of the staff appeared decent at acting with empathy.

I was so disappointed with this group. It seemed ok the first week. I wish I had chosen somewhere else, like Addiction Recovery of New Orleans. If you have any physical limitations, I suggest you do NOT choose ACER in Metairie. They simply DO NOT CARE. All they seemed to want to do is medicate, make you come to "group" for 3 hours 4 times a week, and I suppose get their payment. They really were not supportive when I needed support. It is true about the doctor "appointment" time. Most of the time, the doctor didn't even ARRIVE until after 4! Disappointment barely describes how I feel when I think of this place....such a shame. Something like this should make your soul feel better and full of hope. Instead, I sought them out feeling full of hope and left there feeling abandoned and hurt....the way I left there bordered on UNETHICAL. Shame on their counselors.

I had an appointment for 12pm. Got there at 11:30 being a new patient I figured I would have paperwork to tend to. I saw the nurse, got all the questions out the way, and by 2pm still no doctor I work the overnight shift so I figured a 12p appt would still allow me a few hours sleep before the 10 to 6 shift. The nurse sent the prescription to the pharmacy and told me to go pick it up and come back. As I'm pulling in from the pharmacy the couple that was after me to see the doctor were on their way out. So I figured I'd be next. Well, not so. I got back around 230pm. And at 345 I was still waiting to see the doctor. So unfortunately I had to leave because I have to have some kind of sleep before work. So I went there seeking help and was basically ignored for 4 and a half hours. How do they expect you to comply with a program when they can't even keep their appointments. The whole reason for the 12 pm appt. Was so it wouldn't interfere with my job. I won't be back here anytime soon.
