After a serious discussion with my family I decided to enter a Rehabilitation Clinic to put an end to my cocaine usage. From the moment I entered the rehabilitation facility I was subjected to unwanted attention from the male patients at the facility. At first I thought this would ease off and that the counselors would enforce proper behavior amongst the patients to ensure an environment for recovery existed. Immediately I was confronted by a man who said he had been incarcerated for eight and a half months and have been to this exact same Rehabilitation facility several times. He told me how beautiful I was and I ignored him at first. He kept at it and I told him thank you but was not interested and was only at the Rehabilitation Center for recovery. There was another less aggressive patient who expressed an interest in me that I tried to ignore but he followed me around consistently until I would have to retreat to my room for any peace. I tried to keep to myself and concentrate on my purpose there, but I was given little opportunity. The men would constantly talk about me loud enough for me to hear and was always in vocal. When I asked them to stop they said I thought I was too good for them. Finally in a common area just outside  the director's office, along with counselors and the cafeteria staff present I got into an altercation with 2 patient's, one patient said sexual explicit things to me. One of the things where ' theres alot of temptation in this facility ( pointing to me) and he doesn't want to end up back in jail. I'm very upset that the director, being a woman, didn't say "hey don't make sexual gestures towards her" I was so hurt. During lunch the patient's continued to throw shade ( meaning: to talk about me in a bad manor) so I said grow up and act your age. One patient got angry and kicked his chair against the wall. His shouting bought the director out of her office; instead of disciplining the aggressor she told me to leave and that I did not fit in. Unfortunately she was right, because I felt constant harassment. The physical threat from the male patient who had no restraint even with counselors present was never addressed. I made the decision to go to rehab to improve my life and trusted that this place would be safe. It's important that the city of Alexandria do a review of this facility before it has more people with problems go through its door or it will merely be a turnstyle.
