I am appalled at the behavior of the staff at this facility. I called the facility today to get some information about potentially getting my mother in to participate in the rehabilitation services. The front desk ladies were extremely rude and acted like they hated their job. As one of the ladies was checking on some information for me, I heard a nurse talking about how a patient hadn't gotten dinner the night before and the family was complaining about it. She said the reason he didn't get dinner was because someone had forgotten to give him a tray. By the time they noticed he hadn't gotten dinner, the kitchen was apparently already "closed". She said she had brought him some snacks, but the family complained that they pay way too much money for this sort of thing to happen. Once she said this the nurses started laughing about it! This was absolutely disgusting to listen to! I will not be sending any of my family members here. I hope the family of this patient sees this and removes their family member immediately. Shame on you for treating people this way!

My father was at Aspire for 2 weeks. Our experience was very good. Ashley, the Admissions Coordinator was excellent!! She addressed any concern that we had. My dad had a few tough days so she surprised him one morning picking up breakfast for a “breakfast date” with him. It lifted his spirits! My dad had a nurse, Rick who was a God send. Excellent bedside manner, always had his best interest in mind. If my dad ever needs some extra help we would definitely return.

Just FYI, never take your loved one to Aspire Rehab in Hoover or Vestavia Hills. It was a nightmare. After Dad was discharged, I got 45 minutes down the road when I realized the nurse did not give us his pain medicine nor his appetite stimulate.. Then at 5pm that same nurse called us back about his iv antibiotics she did not send home. We live 2 hours away. Her name was Glenda on the Cahaba Cove floor. Social Services is a joke. They did nothing and I did all the work. They had no discharge plan for him. They never made sure he had a plan. I had to do everything on my own, getting him set up with home health and such. She didn't make sure he would have his iv antibiotics when we got home. That's one of the medicines Nurse Glenda forgot. Just a headache and a mess. We were pressed for time and couldn't find him another facility so we went with them. If I had only looked at the reviews online, 3 stars and lots of horrendous and negative reviews. Also they weren't even giving him half of what the doctor ordered at UAB, one being an iv medicine for his sepsis.

The nurses and caregivers here are wonderful, the administration and social workers in particular are awful. I had to call the state ombudsman twice to get the social workers to do their jobs. They delayed my mom being transferred to a new facility for over a week because they refused to hand over the proper paperwork. The new facility had to call an administrator to get the proper documents for mom to leave. The laundry lost her clothes and a beloved blanket even though her name was on them. Lovely staff took great care of mom but the admins deserve a big fat 0.
