Autumn Care of Norfolk, in my opinion, has done everything in it's power, and within the rules, to allow me and family members to visit my dying sister. Heather and the staff involved showed great compassion for our situation and we are very appreciative. Tony Smith

Watch Rhoda Young Live on FB, COVID-19 is very active in this place and employees are forced to work with Covid-19. Elders are dying from the virus. Please go check on your love ones.

This is by far the W O R S T facility my family has ever dealt with. They have lost our paperwork several times, they do not answer the phones, they give you the run around and totally disregard the families inquiring about their loved ones in this center. I cannot believe a place like this treats their residents and their family so unprofessional and careless. We have had to make several trips to and from JUST TO GET IN CONTACT WITH A LIVE PERSON. Whoever is running this facility needs to do some serious reconsideration of their staff and the way it is ran. I am extremely close to getting an attorney or the news channel involved considering the facility staff are no help and seem to not care for their RESIDENTS nor the residents families. The way they speak to their residents family members is concerning, lord only knows how the residents feel. Absurd.

My dad stayed here between 2018-2019. I honestly loved this place!! The place smelled good upon entering! (Which is rare) The nurses were friendly, hardworking, caring, and respectful. When I asked about getting things done, like hanging his TV up, maintenence staff did it with no problem. I was able to eat lunch and dinner with him, he was always clean, which I appreciated. When he passed, I even had nurses check up on me personally. One nurse in particular Kie, was so so sweet! She called to see how I was doing. The only reason I give the place a 4 is because when my mom stayed there in 2020 for 2 weeks for hospice, the experience was different. When I visited her window, since I wasn't allowed in, they made it a big deal that I didn't call before coming outside or wanted her closer to the window. With hospice, you don't know what day your LO will pass so they aren't empathetic. I even had to stand in the pouring rain just to see her face through the window. Most phone calls were not returned when I tried to check up on her. On the day before she passed, I FaceTimed with her and she had difficulty breathing and talking. I asked the nurse what's going on, she just said she's fine and everything's OK. I asked the staff before she was even admitted if we could be with her when she passed. Erin said yes, however the day came and nobody even called us until they noticed she was dead in her room. I noticed something was wrong the day before, so shouldn't geriatric nurses know too how it looks? So she passed away all alone and that was just unacceptable.
