My experience with The Avenue was excellent. The nursing staff, cleaning and maintenance crew, rehab group and management provided me with the utmost care. I would have no problem recommending your facility at any time if asked to do so. Last but not least is the terrific response time when calling for assistance. Hospitals should be so good.

The senior staff is great. Nurses Ryan and Brenda are incredible. Their PT staff also is amazing. I felt very comfortable knowing my mother was being taken care of. I did have one problem (not a serious one) and the manager of the facility called me within days with an apology and a resolution. I was very grateful for her reaching out.

Our mother was brought to The Avenue for rehabilitation after a fall. At the end of her allowed medicare days they said we would have to pay cash until we could find her another place to live.. But then she developed an infection and had to have IV antibiotics. Then she fell again. We were told Medicare would now allow additional days. We were then billed $1200 for those days. She fell 4 times while she was there each time needing a CT scan and ambulance ride to the hospital. The hospital found clots in both her legs and her lungs. She also had bed sores from being left in the bed and wheelchair for too long. I tried to address these issues with a nurse named Sandy (??) and she got defensive and rude. I placed a call to the director to call me back but never got a reply. I also told the front desk person I needed a call back and told her what happened also. Still no response. This is a state-of-the-art facility but don't be fooled."

This place is criminal -- insurance fraud and neglect of patients are just the beginning. They exploit patients by billing insurance companies while providing minimal care. I am horrified by the experience I had while my grandma was a patient here. I was concerned about the absence of care being provided -- I walked into my grandma's unit and found her catheter out leaking all over her bed. No nurse or aid could tell me when it was removed, who removed it, and if my grandmother removed it herself, why wasn't it noticed? In response to this, I printed this sign asking all facility staff to log when they entered and left her room. I received a call the next day from management telling me how inappropriate this was and that the doctor refused to enter the room and provide care. In my experience, the only time people are concerned about being watched is when they are doing something wrong.... It was immediately taken down. I told them I wanted my grandma released immediately and they told me they wouldn't sign off on this so it would be against medical advice. What advice? Who is providing medical advice if the doctor refuses to enter the room because I simply wanted to know how frequently someone came in and out? I reported them to medicare and will make sure they are not paid a penny for my grandma's stay. She would receive better care at the bus stop.
