Medication-Assisted Treatment at BAART Visalia

Medication-assisted treatment is evidence-based and has been proven to be one of the safest and most effective methods to treat opioid addiction. With the use of medications like methadone and buprenorphine or Suboxone®, people who are addicted to medications such as OxyContin, Hydrocodone, and illicit opioids such as heroin can escape the discomfort of withdrawal. For many drug users, the occurrence of painful withdrawal symptoms pushes them to continue to use opioids, causing their addiction to spiral out of control quickly. With MAT the withdrawal symptoms can be lessened for a period of 24 to 36 hours per treatment.

Methadone and buprenorphine maintenance is overseen by trained medical professionals and doctors who will help each patient determine the dosage required to help them gradually reduce the body’s dependency on opioids. With daily trips to the methadone clinic, patients feel accountable for their recovery process and are engaging with staff and nurses to make sure all of their treatment needs are being met. With time, privileges can be earned, and some patients are able to take medication home to dispense themselves instead of traveling to the clinic daily.

Buprenorphine and buprenorphine compounds such as Suboxone® may be taken in clinic or offered by prescription at BAART Visalia. Each patient’s needs are unique, and the determination of the program that is the best fit will be made with a patient’s counselor and medical provider.

Substance Use Counseling at BAART

While medications treat the chemical side of addiction, there also needs to be attention focused on other dimensions of opioid use disorder that include counseling. Patients at BAART clinics work with trained and empathetic drug counselors and therapists who are able to help patients focus inward and work out past traumas or identify potential mental health issues that are fueling addiction and other unhealthy behaviors. MAT has been proven to be best for long-term recovery when it is combined with counseling, especially with extra emphasis on relapse prevention tools.

Medication-Assisted Treatment & Pregnancy

For women who are pregnant and need to begin a treatment program or who become pregnant while on methadone or buprenorphine, the BAART team works closely with their physician or OBGYN to ensure that treatment decisions are made with the health of mother and baby in mind. These specialized pregnancy treatment resources are a part of our overall focus on patient health that includes STD screening and referrals out to physicians as needed to address the health concerns that may come with long-term active addiction.

The care team at BAART Visalia can help you find a recovery solution and treatment plan that works for your addiction. Schedule an appointment today to get started on the path to a fulfilling life. You can call us at 559.625.8890 or use our online contact form.

Overall the experience is somewhat in need of a makeover. The building isn't very well lit inside and it kinda feels depressing. However one of the nurses there, Jackie, is fantastic. She was very professional during the intake process and was very respectful. As anybody who knows the lifestyle that would lead one to a clinic can have long term effects. Taking my blood can be nearly impossible and I can get bad anxiety when somebody thinks they know my body better than me and insists on poking me until they succeed. After voicing my concern, she was understanding And promised only to try one time, which she did. I dunno something about her just calmed my anxiety and made me feel like she was on my side as a friend instead of just another patient rolling thru the doors. That made me feel good. Even now I see her she still brightens my day and asks how I'm doing. Thanks Jackie!

Okay so there's those that know me and those that don't care to know me but I'm cool with that I met a young lady there I'm married but I met a young lady there I think she was a nurse her name is Jackie she was so concerned with the patients outside waiting because something came up and she made sure that she greeted all 15 of them and told them how she so sorry about the delay and everything like that that's the most anybody has ever said to me other than just wait you know that's how they are they treated everybody like dogs but I told her dad so hold on she might take the position of the owner of that place which would be really good cuz you can tell she's a strong individual you can tell she means what she says and she says what she means God bless Jackie everybody go in on a prayer for her God bless you Jackie

( Luckily ) I am am not a patient but ( regretfully ) my wife is. I am taken back with how this place is called a treatment center How to put this nicely. I can't see how they call themselves an addiction treatment center. They aren't there to help people. They just want to get their patients to trade one addiction for another. My wife is going there to get help for an addiction problem. She is a patient because she wants to stop not swap one addiction for a different addiction. They almost daily try to get her to up her dosage and pretty much ignore her when she tells them she wants to lower her dose. That place is a a joke. If you are wanting to quit and not be a regular user then I would try to get help elsewhere. BAART wants nothing more than for a patient ( customer ) to be a lifer. Are all methadone clinics like this? In my book they are simply drug dealers themselves and only want customers and don't want them to get sober with long term usage is there main goal.

They recently changed the rules so that it takes 10 days to get hour dose increased. And im only at 50mg I had been calling my counselor multiple times and left voice-mails for an increase. And I would call and ask for him explaining that he wouldn't answer my calls.. And all they would do is transfer me to his line. So I kept leaving voice-mail after voice-mail. Only to end up talking to him several weeks later and he told me that their new system is having problems none of them are getting their voice-mails. And nobody told me that. So here I am now only to find out im stuck on 50mg and I can't even get a dose increase because more people have to approve it..the nurse, doctor, and counselor aren't good enough. They have more ppl who have to ok the dose increase. So here I am struggling trying to make a better life and better choices. But I'm struggling BADLY
