I will only start with the most obvious. Treatment centers are meant to be welcoming, warm and understanding. A treatment center is for people with addiction problems. As most people know an unfortunate part of rehabilitation from addiction is that usually the person that is seeking out this sort of help with their addiction, will have a relapse or two or more. It is very sad, but also very true. A lady named Kelly at Burkwood handles most of the intakes for new and returning addicts. This is where it gets interesting. Someone I love dearly, actually really liked the place and was thinking about coming back go work there after she had some sobriety under her belt. Kelly the employee at Burkwood, without hearing anyone out that was trying to advocate for her, gave a short an unexplained answer of "NO She is not welcome back to the facility". Remember the person I'm speaking of had completed the program and graduated, meaning the counselors were satisfied by how much this girl had improved. Oh Kelly though. Not Kelly. The personal power trip that this lady must be on to deny someone that could potentially die from alcoholism, while more than one qualified person had vouched for her, is something that Burkwood, a place that is actually a very safe and good place for someone to get the help you need. End of rant. A perfect example of one person ruining the reputation of a whole company.

I was not accepted into treatment because I am prescribed Lithium medication for bipolar. I am not sure why this is their protocol but if you have a co-occurring disorder, I strongly encourage to look elsewhere to seek treatment. I am leaning on support from NAMI meetings and AA and it has helped so that is good. I do think it's great they accept state-funded insurance, a plus.

This place is a joke I was there for about a week before they threatened to call the police knowing I had a warrant, on me because I refused to go wake someone up when they have loud speakers in each room! I ended up walking from Hudson to stillwater with 2 full suitcases I agree this place doesn't deserve 1 star! Go somewhere else to get sober please!
