Choices For Life is a nationally accredited private behavioral health and foster care provider dedicated to affecting positive change in the lives of the communities, families and clients we serve in Oklahoma and Georgia. With an array of treatment programs and highly-qualified staff, we are committed to improving the well-being of those in our communities, so they can discover and be empowered to make their healthiest choices for life. With its primary location in Valdosta, Georgia, Choices For Life provides foster care services through its contracts with the Georgia Department of Human Services RBWO program.  We also provide outpatient behavioral health services to children and adolescents as a Tier 2 Behavioral Health Services Provider through the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. With locations in Oklahoma City, Ponca City, Checotah, Sapulpa our Choices For Life Oklahoma services extend across multiple levels of foster care treatment programs including Traditional Foster Care, Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) and Intensive Treatment Family Care (ITFC). We also provide extensive outpatient therapy through individual, family and group processes to build skills needed to begin the recovery process. This program is for adolescent substance-abusing or substance-dependent persons to motivate a decision and commitment to change. It helps them look at themselves, understand what it takes to give up their lifestyle, and prepare for and attain success when they commit to making changes. After their kids had grown and moved out of the home Kathy and Troy felt a need to open their home to children who needed a place to go. They take in teenage boys between the ages of 12 and 18. “When they walk in the door, they hate everyone and everything. We try to work through every issue we can with the boys. We love and care for them through those hard things and we see them change so much. Fostering is the hardest thing we’ve ever done, but it’s wonderful and we love them so much.” Michael and LaSonya have been serving children in therapeutic foster care for the past 16 years. They take care of their three children and the children placed in their home. They’ve had 70-80 foster children in the past 16 years and are still in contact with many of them. “We’ve always loved children, and we love it when we can help the child get back with their parents or get adopted. Being foster parents is challenging, but it has its rewards. You have to love them through the hard parts. You can’t give up when you have those bad days.”
