LINDA FIRKS2 StarMy mom was recently in rehab at the Manor. She has long term illness and at her request asked for hospice. Hospice was called and about 45 minutes later the administrator was in the room presenting me with a bill for the next 30 days. I was dumbfounded. I was reeling already and for her to bring the bill in that short of time incensed me. I and my mom decided to come home for hospice.
Administrators need to take compassion training apparently. I got my check back.
Mom was pleased with most of the care. Lawrence the night nurse was her favorite and has came to visit at home. He's a delight.Wednesday 8th August 2018

Paul Revere1 StarI spent six of the worst weeks of my life there. The food is unbelievably bad. You will be served grilled cheese and tomato soup night after night after night. Sometimes all they serve is a baloney sandwich. You don't get to order anything; you get what they bring, period. Sometimes they don't even serve eggs for breakfast. But they sure like to serve sugar. Special diet? Forget it. I spoke with the head of the cafeteria, but nothing changed. They are obsessed about people falling, but they keep the floors so heavily waxed and shiny that you can hardly walk to the bathroom without falling down. Not that they let anyone walk to the bathroom without special permission. I was promised several things by the administrative staff, but they never kept any of their promises. Even though my laundry was marked, they still lost several pieces and gave me someone elses. I definitely would not trust their laundry service. They try to keep you there as long as they can, and you have to get special permission in order to return home. They have no private rooms. The medical care is atrocious. I never once saw a doctor, only a nurse practitioner a couple of times. You are only allowed to shower twice a week, and they choose which days. On the good side, they do have some decent and nice physical therapists, the only thing that made the whole nightmare bearable. I have also been in Parkview's Rehab facility on Randallia, and I do recommend them instead.Thursday 24th July 2014
