Delmar Gardens West has a great history and a name in the community. However, like many skilled nursing facilities during this pandemic, it suffered many losses. As it struggles to rebuild a reputation for a caring, loving facility, I would like to add my review while my father was living his final days as a part of the Delmar family. It is simple to point out problems, staffing concerns and missteps with daily operations. However, it is my nature to praise those who continue to work hard and long hours to care for others who are never as the family remembers them to be. Most staff cared for my father; most gave him extra attention; most treated him with respect; most stopped what they were doing to assist with any number of requests. The therapy department was awesome. Activities never stopped going above and beyond. The front office and support staff juggled many issues with quick resolutions. Hospice staff were overwhelmingly knowledgeable, available and caring. Staff who never get credit such as housekeeping, floor techs, laundry and maintenance always did much more than expected. They visited with my father and made him feel at home. As the industry suffers with nursing care, shortages with staff and disturbing stories in the media, I want to thank those who did their best to be with my father and take good care of him when I could not. Thank you Delmar for upholding the commitment to be a leader in caring for our loved ones.

Wanted to report my sister was a resident at this facility last year and because of the 2 caregivers that were assign to her they did not comply with regulations and she fell and broke her leg needing surgery and pins which she never regained her mobility also many times she would ask for assistance and no response for extended length of time.

This place is infested with bed bugs and roaches. The CNA staff are permitted to verbally abused and intimidate the residents. Administration is indifferent to the needs of the residents. The food leaves a lot to be desired.

UPDATE BELOW... All I'm going to say at this time is thank goodness my stay is temporary! I am a resident here & cannot wait to get out of here. I will update my review when I am able to leave. ××update×× I have been here for over a year. I still don't want to be here by but it's not been too bad. Most of the staff are awesome. The administrator, Richard, has been very helpful in a lot of ways. Again, I want my own place again but for now this place will do just fine.

My elderly Mother had rehabilitation in this facility. Chronically short staffed. Requests for help via bell were often ignored. After the stay, Delmar Gardens collected payment TWICE. The dementia patients are not housed separately and there were upsetting incidents. Please select a facility for your loved one carefully.
