I am writing this letter of recommendation for a highly qualified Addiction Counselor/Case Manager to whom I owe much gratitude. Ken DeBaun and I met in October of 2019 through my son’s recovery treatment at a sober house in St. Augustine, FL. Ken began working with us in Structured Family Recovery and weekly Alumni telephone calls/meetings. It was with his knowledge, dedication, and expertise that he was able to begin the healing process for my son and me. Ken has a tremendous work ethic and a unique way of reaching out to families that is not something that comes naturally to all Addiction Counselors/Case Managers. Ken has a wonderful sense of humor, enjoys telling stories, takes time to listen and makes you feel comfortable and safe. Ken’s compassion for people and their healing process is an area of great strength. Ken is an exceptional person who has made a difference in so many lives as he puts his heart and soul into his job. He has a calm and gentle nature, encourages you to trust the process and lives a life of recovery. I really cannot say enough wonderful things about Ken. He went above and beyond his duties to work with my family dynamic. I highly recommend Ken as he has the tenacity to excel in all areas of family therapy and provide personalized care. I have known ken for five years and have benefited greatly from his great knowledge and experience concerning such a wide variety. Especially in the area of recovery from personal, social and cultural imbalance. To know him is a real joy. 🙏

We did Structured Family Recovery with Ken DeBaun of St. Augustine. We were initially doubtful about how effective it would be. What we found was that it encouraged our family to communicate on a much more personal level than we had in the past. The SFR process, in our case, has had a healing effect that we did not expect. It is still early in the process for us and we don't know how our daughter, who is an addict, will respond. But at this point, what we have experienced is a real bringing together of everyone in an atmosphere of compassion and tolerance. We credit Ken with bringing this about. His approach is results oriented and rational but at the same time, understanding and compassionate. He has managed to take what could have been a volatile, stressful situation and turned it into something where everyone is respectful of one another and seems to feel safe saying what they need to say. I can't say enough about Ken's ability in this regard. Ken has the gift of putting each individual participant at ease. It's easy to talk to him and he's so approachable and non-judgmental. His sense of humor also comes in handy when tackling difficult subjects and navigating the SFR program. We've been humbled by how dedicated and kind he has been. As we said, we're relatively new at this so we can't speak to results. But SFR at this point has definitely improved things for us as a family and helped us create a bond. I don't know of any other kind of treatment approach that involves the entire family like this.
