Good teenagers can head down the wrong road for many reasons. Peer pressure, impulsiveness, mental illness, traumatic events and injuries, and low self-esteem are just a few of the triggers that can spark problematic behaviors, leading to delinquency or problems at school and home. Many of the issues that troubled teens deal with are rooted in something deeper going on, and identifying the underlying cause is crucial to achieving lasting recovery. That’s where treatment comes in.

Fire Mountain is equipped to handle at-risk teens with a variety of emotional, behavioral or substance abuse-related problems. With a highly-trained medical and clinical staff, licensed counselors and experienced care managers, our programs are appropriate for youth aged 12 to 17 who have gone off track in life. Some of the concerns we treat include:

Our goal is to help parents as much as their kids — we know that families want their best for their teens, and that means helping them make the right choices and work through their issues. With the right treatment, our program can awaken confidence, acceptance and responsibility in teens, setting the stage for a meaningful recovery experience that supports a productive, fulfilling life and healthier family dynamic.

I was referred to this place by a counselor. I need help for my teen. I called the number 6 different times and left messages. They NEVER call back. Clearly they do not want any new clients when they will NEVER call back or answer the phone. Worthless.

Fire Mt saved my daughters life. She was 15 when she went in, and had had 2 suicide attempts before Fire Mt.. My daughter was diagnosed with severe ptsd. from some things that tragically happened to her as a baby and beyond my control. The therapists at Fire Mt explained to her what her ptsd was, and helped her while she was going through it. The food was super healthy and my daughter learned so much. Although she did run after 4.5 months, (which I was upset about because Fire Mt is a once in a lifetime opportunity for any kid), she is doing so much better because of Fire Mt. She still eats well, because she learned that eating well made her feel better there, and she tells people how much Fire Mt really helped her. She complained to me on the phone while she was there but when she reflects upon her time at Fire Mt now she says it was the best thing I ever did for her. I am forever grateful to Fire Mt for their expertise in handling her and for all the staff. There were a few issues I was not thrilled about ; I was very upset that Fire Mt would not take my daughter back after she ran, but the good far outweighs any bad and the time my daughter spent there was life changing. I am forever grateful that Fire Mt. exists. My daughter left last July of 2020 and it is a year later that I am giving a review because I could not find the words. These people go above and beyond. My daughter is now a straight A student. I dont think she would have survived without the intervention of Fire mt. Huge thanks!

Where does one start. Fire Mountain is incredible. I will have to post separately, several times to truly tell our story. Our experience has been incredible. Traditional hospitals, and treatments only go so far, but Christine and Aaron go far beyond. Their staff of experts are the very best. Christine and Aaron offer resources that were never offered to us before. We now have a diagnosis, and a starting point to begin the recovery process. Thank everyone at Fire Mountain for your care, treatment, and advice.

It took a lot to get my son in here. I was working with insurance and they finally approved partial hospitalization. The facility asks for a hefty NONREFUNDABLE DEPOSIT ( ours was 16,500 , plus more deposits). My son is on the spectrum , has multiple diagnosis and had depression with suicidal ideations. It was known about his conditions before entrance and that he had a history of pushing the limits and acting out ( ODD) to see how far he could push. My son made some suicidal ideation statements and ran out the door 2 weeks after being admitted ( btw he WAS informed he could not run). Fire Mountain kicked him out stating they couldn’t handle anyone trying to leave ( ie not a restraining facility). They made zero effort to take him back after my son pleaded to give him another chance and admitting he did it to see what would happen. They KEPT most of the deposit ( out of kindness they are returning 4 k ; meaning his stay was 12,500 for 2 weeks which they justified keeping by how much they bill insurance ). Fire Mountain kept the money without treatment, thus hindering our ability to place our son anywhere else. Overall, I cannot comment about the actual treatment ( perhaps it is a good fit for a well behaved child, or one with substance abuse issues who won’t act out). However, there was no attempt made to actual help him. They couldn’t “handle” his behavior and gave up. I want others to know what our family went through.

Fire Mountain truly changed my life for the better. Not only did I receive the diagnosis that would forever change the way I went about my struggles, but I met amazing people that inspire me. FMRTC changed my life. I finished the program not knowing how I would survive once I left, but it turned out that internal conflict wasn’t something necessary. Everyone that I had met there, including the other residents, helped me find my new perspective on life, especially my amazing therapist. There are most certainly hard days and now, I know how to manage them and keep living the best life I can because of what they’ve taught me. I was able to move out and continue my undergrad and hope to one day become a psychotherapist myself. But as of now, I am a behavioral therapist at 18 years old. I never thought I would see the day I would be able to help people and use the struggles I went though as motivation, unable to see that there was a future in store for me, but here I am, following my passions. I hope to one day be able to return the favor of everything FM did for me and to go back to beautiful Estes and work for them. **My tribe’s the bear tribe!!!**
