For more than 50 years, we have been "Caring for Our Community" by providing affordable, evidence-based behavioral healthcare services to children, adolescents, adults, seniors and their families who struggle with mental-health and substance-use issues. July 2020 saw two organizations with this mission — First Step of Sarasota and Coastal Behavioral Healthcare — join to provide better service more cost-effectively. The leadership and staff of this new, stronger First Step of Sarasota Inc. know that while the job is never done, we succeed every time a family is reunited, a person with a mental illness is well again, or a child threatening suicide is saved.We celebrate every time an individual achieves his or her self-determined goals for health, life, and well-being. First Step of Sarasota offers innovative and comprehensive mental health and substance use programs for adults and children, including inpatient, outpatient and telehealth services. No people skills. Called to inquire about some alcohol abuse counseling. Not even a "hello, how are you?" It's a "give me your full name, social security number and who's your insurance with? Wow

This people are the worst I ever have to deal with..I won’t treat your pet hamster at this place..can’t even reach them when your medication is been gone for a week

I had Blue Cross Blue shield insurance,I was sent by my employer,but I was supposed to get paid for the time off work,I my last day of work was Nov.15 2019 and wasn’t able to check in until Dec.9.Sedwik insurance wanted a verification signature from a doctor,or someone with a psych. degree to prove time off work.The doctor at first step refused to sign,so by the time I graduated and returned to work I was 9 weeks without income.This is still causing a huge amount of unwanted stress!This is a terrible way to enter clean liveing and I would not recommend this facility to anyone!
