In my particular circumstance, the single, most difficult aspect of maintaining sobriety in a rural area is finding connection with the sober community. HardBeauty has been a saving grace for me, in terms of providing countless opportunities to network with others on this path of recovery. I have become more hopeful, motivated and passionate about pursuing recovery, as a result of Racquel's efforts to provide diverse forums to remain connected with others. HardBeauty is inclusive, encouraging, welcoming and accepting of all individuals seeking a recovery community.

I believe in HardBeauty. But I won’t start there. I went through detox, residential treatment at an amazing facility in Tennessee, intensive outpatient and transitional housing in Florida with some groundbreaking therapy... I came home confident and then I relapsed. I relapsed so hard that I was unconscious in bed for a week. My family took me to the hospital and I ended up in ICU for five days on suicide watch and from there to a mental hospital. HardBeauty was my saving grace. When I finally decided that something had to change and I wanted to try something new I called Racquel. This woman has saved my life. I’m in tears over it because not only has she given me hope by sharing her personal experiences, she has given me purpose. In my first session all I asked for was “help me find a purpose in life.” I constantly wanted to destroy my life because I couldn’t imagine it to be a life worth living. No kids, not married, and not talking to my family. I called Racquel at 3 days sober, still nauseated, still shaking, still wanting to give up and the moment I heard her voice and saw her smile I new that she could help me. Even from a thousand miles away. She broke down my barriers with my family, my trust issues, taught me forgiveness, and helped me to realize that I am called for a greater purpose. I am alive because I am supposed to be. There’s no other explanation. I have and will always recommend MY people with addiction to coaching. It has saved me in more ways than I can count. It has shown me that my true purpose is to be a light for others and to push others with addiction in the up words direction the way Racquel has coached me. I found my true purpose in coaching and I plan to pursue it. I’m so dedicated to helping others that my drug of choice will never be an option. And as Racquel would say... lets meet in the basement; we will always be at home with our people no matter where we are.

Racquel is my best friend, but that is not why I am here. I am blessed to have her in my life and I am beyond astonished by the work she does. When my daughter was struggling with a few issues, she asked me what she should do. My daughter has always been confident and kind, but there were a few stumbles she faced during these crazy times in 2020. I told her to reach out to Racquel. I told her you can ask her as a coach or as your second mom. My 19 year-old daughter hired Racquel. Because sessions did not involve me I never asked my daughter about her work with Racquel, but she would share at times along the way. It was great to see her thriving and watching the success build her confidence. But the biggest surprise to me was watching her navigate her new relationship. One night my daughter mentioned that she and her boyfriend had a terms and conditions agreement in their relationship. She mentioned that it was something that she learned from her first interaction with Racquel. Apparently there is an agreement that Racquel enters with each of her clients, an expectations document. My daughter mentioned that she and her boyfriend started with two terms and now have five. They talk about when the agreement needs to be changed. As I shared this with Racquel, she was stunned. This relationship agreement is not something she teaches her clients. It was tool to start the therapy sessions that my daughter picked up. I learned the next day that it was not even my daughter who picked it up. In fact, her boyfriend heard her mention it once during a coffee date. When they decided to date, he asked her if she would be interested in a terms and conditions relationship agreement. Hearing this helped me realize that what my daughter had learned was a lesson she will take going forward for the remainder of her life. She has learned to ask for what she wants in relationship. She has learned to better care for herself. Thank you, Racquel. I am humbled by your work and your heartfelt desire to help the youth of today!
