Just found out that the state is ordering all nursing homes to vacate bed & wheel chair alarms. This is not good! Because aides, LPNs, RNs don't watch residents close enough. So now the residents can get out of bed, fall on floor & may lay there for who knows how long without help, same for wheel chairs. My mom tries to get up and walk from wheel chair. This is so dangerous especially now since she is on Serequel a psyche drug which will make her drowsy. I am so mad as this to me means the state doesn't care about our families in nursing homes. A couple of hours after I received call about alarms my mom did stand up from her wheel chair and she fell on floor, no one there to help her or catch her. xray report said no breaks or fractures. but this is unacceptable. All nursing homes and the state want to do is minimize the work load by drugging up the residents so they are calm which prevents worker's comp cases. They threaten you to baker act your family member if you don't comply with what medications they want to use if you family is combative (due to dementia or alzheimers) Sickening!!!! After speaking with Ombudsman, alarms can be ordered by physician. Management & I were able to come to an agreement about changing wheelchair seating position & leaving alarm on chair till we see if this will keep her seated & still mobile. UPDATE: AFTER MOM'S FALL ABOUT 3 OR 4 DAYS LATER THIS KNOT APPEARS ON HER LEFT SIDE ALONG WITH BRUISING. XRAYS ORDERED BUT AGAIN SHOWED NOTHING. HER PRIMARY DR VISITED HER TO CHECK IT SAID IT COULD BE HER SOFT RIB OR HERNIA. THE ONLY THING IN THAT AREA OF BODY IS THE COLON (INTESTINES). THE FALL HAPPENED ON NOV 21, 2017. ON DEC 7, THE NURSING HOME CALLED ME AROUND 5:30 AM SAID MOM WAS VOMITING BLOOD AND THEY WERE ORDERING AMBULANCE TO TAKE HER TO ER AT HOSPITAL. MY PROBLEM IS THAT I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG MY MOM LAID IN HER BED VOMITING BLOOD UNTIL SHE WAS FOUND BY AIDE OR LPN SINCE THEY HAVE VERY LIMITED STAFF ON 3RD SHIFT!!!!! MY MOM HAD A DNR IN PLACE, THE DR AT HOSPITAL SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND MOM HAD ASPIRATED BLOOD INTO HER LUNGS WHICH STARTED PNEUMONIA. THE DR ORDERED HOSPICE CARE, MOM WAS ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL ON THE 7TH, TRANSFERRED TO HOSPICE ON THE 8TH AROUND 3:30 PM AND AROUND 6:30 PM SHE PASSED AWAY. IF YOU USE THIS NURSING HOME BE SURE TO ADVOCATE FOR YOUR FAMILY MEMBER AND VISIT OFTEN, MAKE NOTES, REPORT COMPLAINTS TO PROPER AGENCIES

mom better known as johnnie mae ask me to write this review for her about her experience at heritage park of dade city fl. she is overwhelmed with the care she received when she was there because of a bad accident, it left her with many broken bones and unable to walk. she states she want to thank the entire team at this facility from the admissions team social service, housekeeping and the dietary dept. last but surly not the least. the nurses and cna's were so understanding and patient with me and form being thrown up 130 feets in the air i was sent to the awesome the therapy dept. where i learn how to walk again. now i walk. thank you heritage park and may god bless you all.
