Inova Fairfax Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation

When a patient is referred to our inpatient program, a rehabilitation admissions nurse liaison will complete a review of the patient's medical record. During this review, the nurse liaison will assess the patient’s condition to identify specific needs and evaluate the patient’s eligibility for the program.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars, but the 1 star is really because of the 2 physical therapists who were decent human beings, unlike all the other staff that attended to my family member. After SPINAL SURGERY, she's had several instances of nurses neglecting her painkillers for hours at a time, meals being taken away before she even finished her food, and a therapist who insinuated that she was faking dizzy spells to postpone discharge. SHE HAD TO CALL US TO SAY SHE'S IN PAIN AND NEEDS HELP. No one at the hospital seemed to understand that my family member has no one at her home to supervise her, as she lives alone in her apartment, and we cannot be there 24/7 due to LIFE. For some reason, they act like we are solely responsible for finding a caregiver and her getting discharged unsafely is OUR problem. FCPS health department says it's the hospital's job to make sure the discharge is safe. I sound like a broken record no matter who I talk to -- doctors, PT, OT, managers, nurses -- when I state that she has no support at home right now and we are in the process of getting a caregiver. And no, we can't just hire private caregivers -- HER ENTIRE SURGERY WAS COVERED BY MEDICAID!!! We can't afford that, but they don't care. The entire team treats her like a burden that they need to get rid of ASAP. They even changed from saying she needs 24/7 supervision to occasional check-ins during the day, in the span of days. I don't know if it's because my family member doesn't speak English, so they need an interpreter all the time, but it is palpable that they don't give two sh*ts about her.

The Inova Fairfax Hosptial Inpatient Rehabilitation has been absoloutley amazing for my mother-in-law. The patient care is unlike anything we have ever seen. This facility is equipped with top notch staff whom are well trained and extremley caring and professional. My mom has had fantasic care from the doctors (Dr. Chong, Dr. Yakub), the physical theraparist (Elizabeth,Afton) the nurses, the techs and the case worker (Shirinia) to the folks assisting her through the entire process. These names are just a few, but everyone she has mentioned has been nothing by patient and work with her through this tiresome and difficult process. She has a long road to recovery, but the staff at the rehab center are helping her get on the right path. We greatly recommend this facility especially with these individuals assisting my mother along the way. Thank you Fairfax Rehab!
