Would never recommend to anyone. My father was in for 90 days. My mother brought in his hearing aid at the request of the PT staff. The day before he was discharged, it was lost. All they said when my mother picked him up was that it was lost. I called countless times and left many messages and never heard back from anyone. After a month of calling, I contacted the ombudsman, and she assured me that the administrator, Mr cox, would follow up. I did not hear back. My father spent the last weeks of his life unable to communicate with us and it created a hardship on all of us. I called the ombudsman today and she just got back to me and said that they said I had picked up the hearing aid. This is so sad that they would out and out lie about this. Keep your loved ones far away from this place.

Would not ever recommend. There is a complete lack of care, communication, kindness, or compassion by all staff we encountered. The pandemic has made the staff comfortable with not having outside visitors, I can only imagine what's taken place when visits were completely restricted. Here's what I witnessed with my own eyes: Administrator, nurses, dietary aides, and housekeeping not wearing masks in the facility. The quarantine area for new patients has additional infection control protocols I personally observed not taking place. They have been written up for this violation earlier this year (Search Medicare dot gov inspections) . During my daily visits, I witnessed all staff that entered my family member's room not taking extra infection control precautions: Nurse, housekeeping, CNA. Out of 5 visits, we were given face shields to wear while visiting a total of two times. The activities director instructed us to remove our N95 masks and wear the surgical mask provided by the facility, citing CDC Guidelines (Search CDC Infection Control) and reading #4 on the sign in questionnaire for visitors. Neither state we have to remove our masks in the lobby to put on a Kenwood issued surgical mask. Surgical masks were provided to us after the activities director touched the door touchpad to unlock the doors, touched the binder at the reception area, and ink pen, then set the surgical masks on the counter that I never once witnessed anyone wiping down/cleaning. I never observed her, or any staff using the hand sanitizer available in the lobby. I refused to remove my mask and was promptly escorted out. Three days went by before my family member's clothing and toiletries were sent to his room. He sat in the same clothing for 3 days, and was never given a bath of any kind during his five-day stay. Toiletries were also in this bag, so he was without a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo. Even after his bags arrived, no staff attempted to help him with basic care. Our family member said after 8pm people are yelling for help and nobody comes to help them. He was unable to sleep listening to so many patients yelling for help and nobody to help them or check that they are okay. Five days after admission the PA attempted to do an intake/plan of care meeting during our visit. When told it's a moot point since he's leaving, she asked why I am angry. I wasn't angry, there was no point in going over his reason for being there after 5 days of neglect and he was leaving. Patient safety observations: In the lobby there were boxes and pallets, some empty pallets in the walking area and I observed a patient have difficulty maneuvering her wheelchair around the empty pallet. Boxes piled high in a meeting room we used to talk with hospice, some were opened with contents spilling out. Housekeeping propped a dustmop in my family member's doorway and walked away for several minutes. C Hall is Kenwood's quarantine area for new patients. My family member's room had peeling paint, it had someone else's toothbrush holder in the bathroom, and someone else's trash in the trash can. In 5 days, the trash was not emptied once. There was food debris under the recliner in the room. The hospital table was lopsided and broken, but still in the room and in use. My guess is there was no attempt to sanitize the room prior to a new patient in the room. I've attempted to write a concise review of my observations and opinions of Kenwood. We want the best for our loved ones, and in my opinion, this facility is not a good option if you want a basic level of care. Please read the other reviews, many of the 5 star reviews and ratings are from staff, all about the same time, a year ago. My best guess is staff were incentivised to rate and review.

It is truly a pleasure to write this review for Kenwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. I visit the facility, randomly, all hours of the day, as I volunteer for different events. The facility is very clean and well maintained on a consistent basis. The staff are friendly, approachable and are very attentive and courteous to the residents. One of the biggest highlights of the Kenwood family is they are dedicated to making life fun for the residents. They celebrate every holiday, residents’ birthdays, a wide variety of entertainment and impromptu events throughout the year to make the residents feel special. I’ve observed nursing staff, administrators, housekeeping, and cooks; they are all professional. I believe the management team truly cares. I’ve seen the sentiment “all hands-on deck” and no one seems to mind; it’s part of the pleasing culture there.

Upon visiting this facility the things that stood out to me were the professionalism of the staff that work there and the cleanliness. The building smells good when you walk in and all of the residents are well groomed and cared for. The activities team are all fun and engaging. The admissions department is fun and bubbly. I was thrilled with my visit and would (and do) recommend Kenwood to anyone.
