Our mission at the Lighthouse Recovery Center is to see people set free from the chains of addiction, dysfunctional lifestyles, and to break the recidivism rate of those incarcerated. We accomplish this through the power of Jesus Christ, using faith-based programming, as well as evidence-based treatment in a therapeutic community setting.

They made me cut my hair and my beard. The first night there I got eaten up by bed bugs. They take away free will and force religion. There is a lot of talk about rules and structure but I didn't see it. I was put in the basement in which they were remodeling, but all the scaffolding and tools and dust was in the way of everything. From the basement I had to walk up a big gravel hill back into the upstairs section to use the restroom. They wanted to seclude me from everyone for 45 days while I "formed my foundation" in God. I have the Lord in my heart. They don't take insurance because they are a "working facility" but you can only work jobs they approve, most of which was at the slaughter houses. I'm not going to cut up dead animals for my recovery. Nothing about the place was good for me. It is in the middle of corn and soy bean fields. The crop duster flew so close to the building it seemed like it was going to hit us. The water tasted like the chemicals they were spraying. The food was certainly not healthy. Awful, just awful. If your looking for a way out of prison, it may work for you. I went there on my own free will. I needed help more so with my mental health. I did not find it there. It was stated that they are underfunded and that counseling was being taken case by case. There is no on site counseling or medical or nurses. In the week I was there I didn't go to one rehab class. I helped moved the pastor's daughter. I unloaded railroad ties. I did "chores". I went to church twice on Sunday and devotional and Bible study on Monday. I'm a Christian so that was the best part of my experience there. Then we were told that they are over populated and that half of us would be going to class one week while the other half would be on "work detail" and that we would be alternating week by week. But that's just my experience...

I was very sceptical when a client of mine said his son was court ordered to enter a drug rehab, I always thought, an addict had to want it and not be forced, for it to work. After the first 3 months of his stay, I started seeing huge improvements in his personality, and he was actually looking healthy. Now after 8 months, I am thrilled to see how he has changed inside and out. I am so very proud of him.
