Unfortunately, as a parent of two children now 25 and 28 with long-term serious addiction (5 and 10 years) and co-occurring disorders, I have been in and around many, many recovery and treatments centers over the course of the past 10 years. Both kids have been in and out of so many 30-60-90 day programs, I can no longer count. They don't work. Mountain Valley Recovery (MVR) does work! Of course that assumes the client is ready to do the work they need to do to take back their life. It is a hard program but if a client is ready to listen to people who really understand, deeply care, and know what is required to get sober and healthy, MVR is the answer. MVR, and the entire surrounding community, provides the ideal balance of hard work that provides confidence building hands-on skill training and activity in all kinds of trades, general life skill development, care & support, wide network of engaged mentors that truly care, accountability, therapy / counseling, fun, endless outdoor experiences, and spirituality. My son recently graduated from this program and has chosen to stay and build a life within the community. He is sober, happy, healthy, and living / building an independent life for the first time in 10 years. It is a joy to watch. On a side note, my daughter is also sober 9 months and in another long term recovery similar to MVR. She is also well on her way to a strong recovery and a new life. The right long term programs work and are worth every cent. There is no way to express the gratitude that I have for MVR, Kellie and Judd who are angels from God, and the entire community.
