I had an overall good experience at Newport. While there were some downs, especially with some of my roommates stealing my personal items, I loved the majority of the staff and honestly wish I could talk to them now instead of the two year waiting period. The staff was trying their best, the food was usually quite good and they tried very hard to be accommodating. My family therapist Bill probably saved my relationship with my parents, and my therapist helped me tremendously, and my counselor pushed me to be the best I could be and always laughed with me. The CC's usually tried so hard, and the Adventure staff was probably the most amazing part and I hope I can do adventure again soon. All in all, I would recommend Newport

Newport in Bethlehem CT is an atrocity! The children cry daily. Many staff members have been vulgar and rude to the clients and nothing is done in regards to that. The clients have written letters in regards to how they feel and they are over looked or thrown away. I am a previous staff member who saw these things happen daily! I sent many e mails to upper management where nothing was done. Now I am let go. It doesn't pay to advocate for these kids because you will be punished for doing so. Please look else where for care. Newport will break your child's spirts. They also do don't care about food quality. Pork should not be grey. The staff are too busy treating the job like asocial hour and things are missed. Knives, self harming mask wires, etc. This place is extremely risky. Thank God I documented everything I saw. I cared so much for these kids and tried to make a difference. Sadly management didn't want me to bring light to these things. Protect your kids.

They stole my favorite pants and shirts and never returned them. When I was discharged they sent a women to get the things I had left and come to find out when I get home that 3 jeans and 2 t shirts are missing. We tried to contact the place and all they said was they were not responsible for lost items. I had left those items in the closet drawers and the staff was simply lazy. Do not recommend to bring anyone to this place!

I was in Newport for 53 days and as it did help me heavily to change myself mentally, I would not recommend this place for others. I would describe Newport as a mental-health prison as the facility was filled of girls who were other druggies or alcoholics inside houses in a wired-fenced area, forced to do activities that might not be comfortable for all patients. Also, if you send your child to Newport, do not expect a lot of communication with them as you only get one phone call for day, and it lasts about 5-10 minutes because of some "staging" system Newport has in place which is just plain ridiculous. Overall, the staff were nice (at times) and they did try their best, but this place is a overall joke.

There are three therapists in a specific area of the facility called Moose, Kaitlyn Trauger who is a social worker and Meredith Dellorco who is a family therapist. There was another therapist named Chris that moved on. They're both narcissists who manipulate teenage boys' emotions in order to feel good about themselves. Kaitlyn is extremely sensitive and much more prone to getting offended, Meredith is more calm, but still a narcissist. The social worker literally tries to brainwash you by making you hold these devices that vibrate every time they say something they want you to believe. She also talks for 90% of the time for each session and constantly interrupts. She insults you all the time and constantly compliments herself. She has a very raspy and seductive voice so it is very easy for a teenage boy to judge from their feelings instead of their mind. Meredith allies with evil parents and tries to convince you to think that they are good. These people actually spend their entire lives lying and deceiving others. Just like rude nurses, abusive nursing home workers, therapists and especially therapists in residential fit in the puzzle. This is the mental health industry so it really isn't a surprise that these type of people exist. The same review is getting deleted and we can probably guess who is flagging it. I can just keep posting this.
