COVID-19 School Social Distancing Plan Protocol

Overview:

The intended purpose of this protocol is to provide a framework for conducting school for clients admitted to the Youth Recovery Center (YRC) during the COVID-19 pandemic. All clients and staff will adhere to social distancing recommendations outlined by the CDC and act in accordance with Valley View Hospitals (VVH) COVID-19 response policy.

To ensure the health and wellness of staff and clients during school programming, the following safety process is in place:

1. Clients/staff will remain at least 6-feet apart per social distancing guidelines.
2. Clients must go one at a time, from their room, down the hall to the classroom (dayroom) for social distancing.
3. Hand sanitizer is used before entering and when leaving the classroom. Additionally, clients and staff are required to wash their hands (or hand sanitize) every time they enter and leave any room on the unit, and anytime they enter and leave the unit.
4. Clients and staff are required to wear masks in accordance to current VVH and CDC guidelines.
5. Clients and staff will clean any used communal area with disinfectant wipes immediately after its use.
6. Clients and staff are required to disinfect all items touched after use (doorknob, computer, book, whiteboard marker, etc.).
7. Clients will avoid sharing common items (pencils/markers, paper, books, computers, remote, etc.)
8. Clients will sit one student per workspace to maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet. Every effort will be made to decrease the amount of movement in the classroom (dayroom) with both clients and staff.
9. A maximum number of 10 individuals are permitted in the classroom (dayroom) until, at such time, restrictions change.
