Student Assistance Services Corporation

Welcome to the Student Assistance Services website. In this site, you will be able to find information on the Westchester Student Assistance Program, RSAP, Project SUCCESS, and the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, as well other programs and activities offered by Student Assistance Services Corporation.

Student Assistance Services (SAS) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation registered with the New York State Office of Charities Registration Bureau, and licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. SAS provides substance abuse prevention and early intervention services, programming, and training in schools, residential facilities, and communities primarily in Westchester County, New York.

Student Assistance Services was incorporated in 1985, being "spun off" from the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health. The core program is the Westchester Student Assistance Program, which has served students in Westchester since 1979.

Student Assistance Services developed the Residential Student Assistance Program (RSAP) in 1987 and Project SUCCESS (Schools Using Coordinated Community Efforts to Strengthen Students) in 1995. Both programs are recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Center For Substance Abuse Prevention as effective evidence based programs designed to prevent and reduce substance abuse among students 12 - 18 years of age. RSAP and Project SUCCESS are highly rated by SAMHSA's National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices.  The programs are being replicated in 38 states.

Student Assistance Services is an authorized NYS OASAS certified training provider.  Student Assistance Services Corporation SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0101.  Student Assistance Services provides certified training and consultation in the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.

Student Assistance Services also provides problem gambling prevention services, community based programs and consultations, the "Parenting for Prevention" newsletter, an Employee Assistance Program, the ROADD (Reduce Our Adolescent Drinking Drugging and Driving) Program, and special events.
