The Turning Point of South Carolina

Michael writes: After… This morning as my wife and I were having our coffee and getting ready for work, I had this overwhelming feeling of joy, and for most people this would be something of a regular occurrence but for me not so. For years, before I went to Turning Point for addiction treatment, I suffered from drug and alcohol addiction, so much so that I landed up in jail on numerous occasions and also did a few prison stints. There was also a time in my life that I believed I would be better off dead but the God I now serve had other plans for my life. You see, most of my friends had careers by attending college or joining and retiring from the military and some even had lifelong on the job training by working the same job since graduating from high school, but my training was a different type of training experience, addiction, and by God’s grace my experience has given me the skills to help other men who suffer from the same problems as I once did. I thank God everyday for believing I was worth saving and I am thankful for seeing the miracles take place within the lives of the men I am able to work with, by becoming fathers again, marriages being restored, seeing men who wanted nothing to do with God actually become faithful followers of Christ. When I am back in my hometown of Barnwell SC people do not talk to me about the sins of my past, they encourage me for who and what I am today. I am so blessed to have a wife who loved me when I couldn’t love myself and family members who never gave up on me. People ask me if I am ashamed to share my story with the world and I tell them, why would I be, there is God’s glory in my story! I have a permanent job now, which I have had for a while. I have both a savings and a checking account; I have been reunited with my family; I have self respect again and enjoy helping others who were like me when I got here. With a grateful heart, I thank God and Turning Point. During my year and a half as a resident for addiction treatment, I have been able to maintain a permanent job, I have met and maintain my financial and legal obligations, I have been able to restore and repair relationships, I have a driver’s license and a vehicle and I have a peace of mind and an unbelievably happy life words can barely describe.

Turning point is a great place in a wonderful program if you want it to be and if you allow it to be. when I arrived at turning point I didn't even have a toothbrush to my name and this week I'll be leaving here not only a renewed man mentally but spiritually and physically I'm now leaving with a vehicle of my own to a home of my own, as a brand new man to my wife and my son and the rest of my family. thanks to turning point and God I want to thank Rob, Don, Mike and everybody at the program for giving guys like me another chance and the ability to learn how to do it the right way. again I would suggest turning point to anybody that truly wants to change and is willing to take the steps to do so. thanks guys! Remember to surrender, submit and serve its that easy.

I want to tell you alittle about myself and about Turning Point. I found myself between a rock and a hard place. I wanted to turn my life around but I didn't have the foundation or the means to do so. Turning point provided both of these for me with understanding I will put the work in at better myself without the use of drugs. I truly would recommend Turning Point if you are ready to find a new way of life. God bless.
