It’s a good place, but you must be proactive and advocate for yourself cause if you don’t those 6 months could be a waste. The aftercare planning is horrible! There is no excuse why someone should be going to a shelter after being at trinity glen for 6 months! There’s a lot of staff there that needs to retire.... They don’t meet the needs of there clients and there case load is way too much for them to handle. My experience at trinity glen was decent, but I saw a lot of neglect and unprofessional employees there. It’s a shame cause it’s the best state run rehab in the state in my eyes and it’s getting worse day by day.

I spent 4.5 months at this program. After 30 days, you are allowed to go to outside meetings and can "earn" 12-hour passes for the weekend. The program itself helped me gather the tools for long term sobriety. I enjoyed the work therapy aspect of the program. Everyone gets assigned a different job everyday(maintenance or kitchen work). It helped me acquire a renewed work ethic and aided me in finding what I would like to do afterwards. However, 50 percent of the staff are selfish and come off disrespectful. They seem to delay planning your aftercare, which causes clients to wind up in limbo at sobering centers until rooms open up at the next desired program. They also seem to take away your pass privileges for the smallest transgressions(i.e. missing a med time, being late to a group or roll call, etc.). In regards to the medical coordinator, she doesn't seem to care for the clients and only thinks of the rules and regulations. She doesn't take medical concerns seriously and delays you seeing a doctor for medical concerns. If you can choose to not consume yourself with the actions of staff or other clients, you may be able to enjoy your time here. The location is beautiful and in a wooded/mountainous valley next to the Appalachian Trail. There is a small, rustic gym in the back field next to a community run garden. The program is away from other houses and people, yet outsiders from the town will drop in to pick clients up to go to meetings nearby. Volunteers from the local church offer to pick up clients for church services on Sundays. Overall, the program is a good place to find yourself. I was able to achieve long term sobriety through this place. I had to choose to not associate with certain clients but was able to rely on others. I found a good network for 12-step meetings in the local area and now have good, sober associations to look to in times of trouble. I have been able to find what interests me and have developed a new skill set during my time here. I recommend this program to anyone who is serious about changing their ways, and wants to break free from the grasp of addiction.
