WAIT UNTIL DARK at the LITTLE THEATRE OF MECHANICSBURGVision Resources of Central Pennsylvania (VROCP) is sponsoring a live, benefit, play of the psychological thriller, Wait Until Dark. The stage adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher is of the 1967 movie involving a recently blinded woman who is terrorized by a trio of thugs while they search for a heroin-stuffed doll they believe is in her apartment. The movie starred Audrey Hepburn and also includes Alan Arkin as a violent criminal along with criminal played by Richard Crenna. Other supporting actors include Jack Weston, Julie Herrod and Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. Audrey Hepburn was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1967, and Zimbalist was nominated for a Golden Globe in the supporting category. The movie’s climax is ranked on Bravo’s100 scariest movie moments.VROCP is using the live production as a fundraising opportunity, but also because of the depiction of the young blind woman in her role. As a newly blind person, understandably the heroine’s life has taken a drastic and tragic change. However, she proves herself to be resourceful and independent as she learns to deal with the life fate has handed her. The story and portrayal of a strong and self-reliant person with a blindness disability was ahead of its time. Please join Vision Resources at the Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg on February 27, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. for this one-time showing of Wait Until Dark. Tickets are $25.00 each and may be purchased by clicking the link above the picture. For questions, call Cheryl Cuddy at the agency office, 717-238-2531. Light snacks will be provided preceding the stage production. All proceeds will be used to support the VROCP mission in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin and Perry counties.
